Cherry fruits contain simple sugars and pectins, manganese, and fruit acids, giving them anti-inflammatory activity, i.a. protecting against cardiovascular diseases. They have positive influence on the heart, and also counteract insomnia.
Their nutritional and medicinal properties have been long used in traditional folk medicine, i.a. in soothing urinary bladder ailments.
Cherries also contain a lot of antioxidants, protecting the body against ageing processes and cancer. They neutralise free radicals.
